Jessica did not find this work in a textbook. She found it because of her son.
He is autistic, and for a long time she ached to hear his voice. More than anything, she wanted to hear him say "I love you." That longing became a calling. She learned everything she could about communication, became a speech-language pathologist licensed in Texas, and became the thing every parent in her position has to become: a fierce advocate. She fought for her son at school, navigated systems that were never built for him, and helped him find his voice, including the AAC device he uses today.
Jessica founded Polaris so that other families have that kind of advocate from day one. She knows what it feels like to sit across from a clinician and wonder if they really see your child. So that is where we start: your child is seen, your family is a partner, and no one is ever rushed.
Her clinical home is autism. It is where her experience runs deepest, and where she has watched child after child connect, reach, and surprise everyone in the room. She also works with children who have AAC needs, fluency and stuttering challenges, late language, and speech sound and phonology differences.
Polaris is the North Star: the fixed point families look to when they are finding their way. It is also the mother bear who circles her cub, watchful, and unwilling to let anything come between her baby and what that baby needs. That is the spirit we bring to every child: steady guidance and fierce protection, in equal measure.
